Export your workspace data
Download a portable workspace export, review its omissions, and understand how an export differs from a database backup.
Before you start
Use a workspace-owner account and check that you are in the workspace you intend to export. Make room for a JSON file and choose a safe place to keep it. The export contains workspace information, so treat it as private.
Create an export
- Open Settings → Data and find Export this workspace.
- Start the export and wait for the result.
- In Cloud, check your browser’s downloads folder. In desktop, review the saved-file location reported by the app.
Check the file
- Confirm that the file exists and is not empty.
- Review the export’s omissions report to understand what was not included.
- Keep a copy in a location appropriate for your workspace’s data.
A browser download being requested does not prove the file reached your disk. Check the actual file before relying on it.
What an export does not replace
A portable workspace export is not a complete backup of a deployment. Authentication credentials and agent authorizations are not portable workspace records; agents may need to reconnect after a restore.
For desktop, distinguish portable exports from complete local recovery backups. The standalone app provides recovery controls in Data; external-database users remain responsible for their database backups.
If the export fails
Read the error and confirm your workspace role. If a download was blocked, check browser download settings and disk space before retrying. If the problem persists, contact support with the error and time; do not attach a full workspace export unless support has explained why it is needed.
